Performance Meets Transparency: Why We’re Returning to Our Original Formulas
At ÉCLAT, one thing matters more than any laboratory formula: your opinion. That’s why we want to be open and transparent with you today about a significant decision we’ve made based on your feedback.
Over the last few months, we’ve been listening closely to your emails, comments, and messages. One thing became crystal clear: some of you have been missing the depth, the longevity, and that signature "wow-factor" you’ve loved for years. We’ve heard you, and we’ve decided to take action to give you the premium fragrance experience you deserve.
Why did some fragrances change?
You might have noticed that certain scents recently felt slightly different or didn't last as long as they used to. This is because we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to move our recipes toward a "Clean Beauty" base, aiming to remove as many synthetic additives as possible.
However, we’ve learned a vital lesson: in the high art of perfumery, certain ingredients—like UV filters or specific fixatives—act as an invisible scaffold. Without them, a fragrance can lose its stability or fail to develop its full, characteristic depth. We don't want to force sustainability at the expense of the fragrance experience.
Back to Perfection: The Best of Both Worlds
To guarantee the brilliance and longevity you expect from us, we are returning to our tried-and-tested original recipes for selected compositions.
What this means for you:
Maximum Performance
We are reintroducing proven stabilisers (such as UV filters and, in some cases, phthalates) that protect the scent from light and ensure a long-lasting sillage.
A Note on Ingredients: Many of our original formulas have always been naturally free from added phthalates; we only use them where they are absolutely essential for quality.
Clean Standards Remain
Even as we return to our original strength, our core values remain untouched. Our perfumes are still cruelty-free and free from parabens, sulphates, paraffins, silicones, and mineral oils.
Vegan remains a priority
Fragrances that were originally designed as vegan and meet our high quality standards will, of course, remain 100% vegan.
At the same time, we want to be open with you: in some specific compositions, it may become necessary to reintroduce selected ingredients of animal origin (e.g. shellac, honey or beeswax). This only applies to cases where these components are essential to the olfactory identity of a fragrance and where no equivalent vegan alternative exists.
For us, this is not a step backwards, but a conscious decision in favour of fragrance authenticity. In certain instances, a vegan alternative significantly alters the character of a perfume – and it is precisely this "signature" recognition we want to preserve for you.
Our commitment remains unchanged: to provide you with the fragrance experience you expect in terms of quality, depth, and longevity. Wherever effective vegan alternatives exist, we will, of course, continue to use them.
Full Transparency for Your Purchase
We know that many of you care deeply about what goes into your products. To ensure you know exactly what’s in your favourite bottle, we’ve listed all the details on our product pages. Under the "About this perfume" tab, you’ll find:
- The full list of ingredients (INCI).
- Special features (e.g., if the scent is vegan).
- Details on fragrance character and longevity.
Our Vision: Sustainability Without Compromise
Our journey toward clean, fairly produced, and sustainable fragrances is far from over. We are still firm believers that "Clean & Sustainable" shouldn't mean a higher price tag or a compromised product.
But we’ve also learned that true improvement takes time. If a new, more sustainable formulation doesn't trigger that "wow-feeling," we’d rather go back to the drawing board than offer you a mediocre product.
You are the heart of ÉCLAT. This decision is a commitment to you. Thank you for your honesty and your loyalty!
